FAQs

1. How do I get a ticket?

Tickets are available online at tixsa.co.za from June of each year, as well as available for purchase at the door.

2. How are the galleries selected for the Fair?

Galleries are invited to participate in the main section of the fair – branded gallery HUB – by the selection committee. Criteria for the Central section are in line with international standards of art fairs worldwide and are set in order to align the fair and its galleries with international discourse and to ensure the responsible patronage of artists.

The 2023 Gallery Lab is curated by Kim Kandan (Gallery Liaison, FNB Art Joburg). More details on criteria are available on our Exhibitors page.

3. Who is on the 2025 Fair Selection Committee?

Jonathan Garnham, blank projects (Cape Town)

Joost Bosland, Stevenson (Cape Town, Johannesburg)

Liza Essers, Goodman (Johannesburg, Cape Town, London)

Gina Molle, Everard Read (Johannesburg, Cape Town)

Marcus Gora, First Floor Gallery Harare (Harare, Zimbabwe)

More details on invitation criteria and each section are available on our Exhibitors page.

4. Can artists apply to exhibit at the Fair?

The Fair’s mandate is to support and grow a sustainable art ecosystem in Africa for its artists. We believe the best way to do so is to work with galleries that support them through long term representation. This means the Fair gallery focused, inviting only galleries to the Fair who in turn select the artists they will exhibit in their booths.

For more information on the fair sections and invitation criteria visit our Exhibitors page.

5. Who owns FNB Art Joburg?

In 2019 the fair was purchased by Mandla Sibeko making it 100% black owned.
